It's not every day that I get to work with a couple so free and loving as Sam & Jesse.
Like many other COVID couples, Sam and Jesse were faced with the decision of postponing, eloping, or doing a smaller back yard wedding. They chose option three and made it the best backyard wedding I have ever photographed! Sam designed all the decor and had the most amazing design; I even told her that she should be a wedding planner/decorator! The wildflowers were simple and elegant as centerpieces but bold and grand for bouquets.
The day started with Sam getting ready at her parents house twenty minutes away from the home of a family member who lent them their yard for the wedding. I started by taking a million photos of Sam's gorgeous fitted gown by hanging it on the shed in the backyard. Sam's sister, her maid of honor, had told me how growing up they would always take important milestone photos in front of that shed so it seemed like the perfect place to start their wedding gallery. During the getting ready hour I was able to laugh and joke with all the girls and take some shots of their first look of Sam in her dress.
I headed to the venue and got to meet up with the groomsmen and set up for Sam's first look with her father (which was the cutest)! The ceremony started with the sun just setting over the trees lighting up the beautiful early autumn colors. Their vows were personal and touching (and a little funny with mentions of Sam's wish to have goats someday).
The rest of the day was a whirlwind of family photos, wedding portraits, and so much dancing! They had an array of yard games and the DJ played my favorite party song The Cupid's Shuffle which got everyone dancing. The night ended with a sparkler exit before I went home for the night!
Sam & Jesse are going to be one of those couples who's wedding I will always cherish. They were one of the first couples who booked with me when I first started doing photography and they trusted my vision every step of the way. Congrats to Sam & Jesse on tying the knot!
